Alpines

Alpines are very pretty little plants that require minimal care, as long as they are planted in the right place. Most of our alpines and succulents are sold in 9cm pots priced £2.29, although we have some larger specimens too at £4.99, especially later in the season.

Our range often includes Arabis, Armeria (thrift), Aubretia, Campanula (bellflower), Corydalis, Delosperma, Dianthus (pinks), Erodium, Erigeron, Frankenia, Gypsophilia, Helianthemum, Iberis, Lampranthus, Lewisia, Lithodora, Mimulus, Phlox, Pulsatilla, Rhodanthemum, Rosularia, Saponaria, Saxifraga, Sedum (stonecrop), Silene, Sisyrinchum and Viola.

Alpines are quite tough, hardy plants but do need very free-draining soil as they don’t like damp conditions, especially in winter. This makes them well suited to the conditions offered in many areas around the Suffolk coastal area.

They are also excellent for growing in troughs and raised beds, as well as rock gardens. Most prefer a sunny site.

This list is by no means exhaustive – to see our full range you will have to come and visit us! Please also bear in mind that not all plants will be in stock at any one time –if there is a variety you particularly want, please phone or email to check beforehand.
