Instant colour to boost your borders!

20/6/2025

Picture
Make the most of the weather and spend some time in your garden!

We are packed with plants that can give it some extra zing, from plugging the gaps in the borders to prettying up pots, with many likely to give you flowers throughout summer and autumn!

Dahlias will give you big pops of colour, while the Argyranthemums and Osteospermums give striking daisy-like blooms. There are no more Cosmos growing at the Katie's Garden nursery so don't miss your chance to get some from us. They are ideal for filling gaps in the borders, as are our flowers for cutting range - annuals for 5 for £10.

Multi-headed Sunflowers are a hit with the bees. If you like to sit out in the evening, get some Nicotianas and enjoy their fragrance late in the day, with their flowers a favourite of the moths.

Work with the natural conditions of your garden and choose from our drought-tolerant plants display, or maybe you need our plants for ponds and damp soil!

Go leafy and relaxing with grasses and ferns, get the Japanese look with Acers, Fatsias, bamboo and easy-care evergreens, or go bright and bold for the exotic look.

And if you like cottage gardens you will find a host of suitable candidates in our border perennials ranges, from hollyhocks to sweet williams to foxgloves, Delphiniums, Campanula bellflowers and more.

Salvias have been the superstars of 21st century gardening and we have got a huge choice at Monks Eleigh!

We have got around two-dozen different varieties of the shrubby sorts, including Hot Lips, but also many many more besides.

Salvia Amistad is almost matched in drama by Plum Crazy, and Roman Red will make your borders glow. The half-hardy Salvia Salmias are in flower and just waiting to fill out your large planters, either on their own or as centrepieces.

Keep your eyes open and you will find even more dotted about our plant centre.

Read all about Salvias in the June edition of The Flourishing Garden - pick up your free copy at the till. The magazine also highlights plants for pots, plants for fragrance and gives out a few watering tips too!

Low cost annuals help you take your garden up a level. Geraniums (pelargoniums) require little attention, and our multi-packs of them work out at just £1 a plant!

Make it easy with pre-planted pots and hanging baskets. Shop online through the Katie's Garden website to order bespoke planting, to get Basket Bundles that hold your hand, and to get money-saving Summer Sizzlers: £60 of plants for £40, online only, for home delivery or collection from us.

Filling up for spring!

20/3/2025

It's a long time till summer bedding plants can go outside, so if your winter displays have run out of steam treat yourself to pops of colour with low-cost spring flowers.

We've got lots to choose from at less than £2 a pot, including primroses, polyanthus, pansies and violas, with Bellis daisies just a little more.

We are very proud of our Suffolk-grown plants which are much chunkier than many other places sell, thanks to bigger pots, quality compost and long-release fertiliser.

As an alternative, alpines are the easy way to container garden as they give year-round colour, survive the frosts and need little watering

If you're looking for easy displays or gifts we have got some very pretty planters made up with alpines and other spring flowers.

The Roses might not look too exciting at the moment but get them planted now to enjoy fragrance and flowers in the summertime.

Fragrance can often be forgotten about but we have a whole table of suggested plants including sweet box, Pieris lily of the valley shrub, Buddleias and more.

Look out as well for scented Dianthus, sweet williams, sweet peas, wallflowers and more

March and April are probably the most satisfying months for planting perennials.

Put them in now barely an inch or two tall and by summertime most will be at full pelt, full of flower and completely transforming your beds in just a few short months!

Our selection is steadily growing at Monks Eleigh, with lots of cottage garden classics and lots for shade too.

We are waiting for even more to be ready from the Katie's Garden nursery, so let us know if you would like to put your name to anything!

Email us at [email protected] or ask at the till when you come in.

Our plant nursery reopens in Monks Eleigh!

If you hanker for that classic 'Christmas tree smell' the bushy Norway Spruce is the one you want.

But if you are planning to have your tree on display for a lengthy period, go for the Nordmann Fir, known as the “non-drop” tree because of its excellent needle retention.

Increasingly popular are the living Christmas trees. These have been grown in pots so have most of their root systems when you buy them.
